Patchwork eyeglass case.

Here's a little step by step on how to make your own eyeglass case. It's completely customizable and you can use whatever patchwork design you choose or no patchwork at all.

Begin by selecting your fabrics and cutting your squares. My squares are approximately 2 1/2 inches. Lay them out in the order that you would like to have them attached and begin sewing them together.

Don't forget to press open your seams as you go to get a smooth front of the fabric.

Continue sewing more squares together until you have connected all of the squares.

Next sandwich the front and the batting together and begin pinning it. (Take care not to add the backing material yet)

Here I used a zig-zag stitch to top stitch along all the seams. This step isn't necessary but I like how it looks when it's completed.

Don't forget to make sure your pins are out of the way of your sewing.

Now pin the patchwork fabric with the batting to the backing fabric right sides together.

Sew along the edging leaving a two inch opening for turning rightside out.

Trim all excess fabric away.

Next turn rightside out and press with a hot iron. Topstitch around the entire border.

Fold short sides together and topstitch only two of the the sides leaving the top open.

Enjoy your new eyeglass case!
